Which namaz is important

All the instructions, constraints, freedom, rights and education provided by Islam are with the objective that a Muslim becomes pious and moves on the righteous path. In this regard, prayer has a great role to play as it promotes Taqwa or piety in the follower. Therefore, in addition to giving charity and believing in the unseen, a Muslim must also establish Salah in order to move towards Taqwa. Every deed, whether good or bad that a Muslim undertakes in this life, he or she will have to be answerable for it in the afterlife.

Although all the deeds get rewarded in the afterlife, however, the actual reward of Salah will truly be realized in the afterlife when Allah Almighty will shower special blessings on that person. In Quran, Allah says:. Therefore, prayer is not something that ends in this world, rather the real reward of it will come to surface in the afterlife.

Muslims who realize that Allah Almighty is their Lord and the Giver of everything, they try to develop a relation with Him and wish to stay connected with Him as much as possible so that their relation grows strong.

Salah can effectively help in achieving so, as Allah says in Quran:. And when you have completed the prayer, remember Allah standing, sitting, or [lying] on your sides. Should one be travelling or away from their hometown, certain allowances are given to make the prayers easier. This position can be ascertained using a compass. The principle of salah is to ensure Muslims maintain their faith and devotion to Allah SWT, to increase taqwa closeness to Allah SWT and to remain conscious of the importance of faith and submission to their Creator.

There is special importance dedicated to the Friday prayer, which is also known as Jumaa Namaz. This prayer is performed in congregation at the local Mosque and is led by an Imam leader. There are many other prayers in Islam, such a Namaaz-e-Mayyit, which is performed at the janaaza funeral of the deceased and Namaaz-e-Eid, which is a prayer traditionally performed on the mornings of Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha, prior to which, all Muslims are liable to give to charity in the form of fitrana.

Other important prayer rituals also include taraaweeh, which is a prayer offered every evening during the Holy month of Ramadan. Friday is considered an auspicious day of the week and even those Muslims who are otherwise not regular with namaz try to attend prayers in mosques or participate in any open congregation.

Congregational prayers are a way of strengthening the brotherhood. Congregational prayers are also held on the two Eid festivals during the year. And it is not just these two occasions when Muslims are seen hugging each other. Abdul Rashid, who performs the namaz regularly, said the congregations help in building strong social bonds. Friday sermons are also about discussing the social problems.

The Supreme Court observation made in the Ismail Faruqui case that a mosque is not an essential part of Islam and that namaz can be offered anywhere, even in open areas, leave another question mark on where Muslims should pray.

Prayer Namaz times are dictated by the positioning of the sun in the sky and where you are in the world. In communities with a high Muslim population, prayer times are announced by a daily call to prayer known as Adhan. Adhan is a call made from the local Mosque by the designated caller of prayer, known as a Muezzin.

These are known as the Kalimah, an important part of the call to prayer and the first of the Five Pillars of Islam. A further announcement, called the iqama, is made to inform Muslims that it is time to start lining up in preparation for the beginning of prayer. Alongside delivering the Kalimah, the Muezzin announces the call to prayer so Muslims in the area can retain an accurate prayer schedule.

Muslims must observe five prayers throughout the day, each based on the positioning of the sun.
